The two previous seasons had seen Pensilva reach the semi-final of this competition, losing to Padstow both years. This year a makeshift Pensilva travelled to the North Coast to take on Boscastle, who in the previous round had walloped Padstow 7-1.

An entertaining, fast and furious first half finished with the visitors going into the interval sensationally 3-2 up. After going down twice, a brace from Darren Worden, and a strike from Tony Rogers pulled them in front, not without controversy. Boscastle were disputing the goal that never was. A free header from a corner produced a brilliant reflex save from keeper Simon Terrell, the rebound seemed to bounce behind the line, but the ref and the linesman both waved play on.

An early second half injury blow to Spencer Welch proved to be the start of their downfall. With 20 minutes remaining they were rocked by a controversial handball penalty decision against Rogers. The resulting spot kick was saved well by keeper Terrell but the rebound fell nicely to the kicker who slotted home. The floodgates now opened, and Boscastle netted three times in the last 15 minutes. Pensilva's cup run and a chance of another semi-final were over.
