Every year the Sportsmans Arms at Menheniot holds a competition to choose a charity.
Pete Pollard was the winner for the year 2016-17 and chose the British Heart Foundation.
Pete said: ‘That the British Heart Foundation was a charity that so many people may use in their lifetime and is often forgotten about until needed.’
Jerry Tucker, chairman of Menheniot Parish Council, presented a cheque on Pete’s behalf to Gill Keast and Helen Fox from the Liskeard British Heart Foundation for a total of £297.47.
This was raised over the year by customers dropping odd change into a bottle, as well as through holding small raffles and competitions, plus a charity barbecue that was held in the summer.
