A solar farm could have its working life extended by more than a decade if Cornwall Council agrees to a variation in the conditions it imposed when granting permission for the site in 2013.
The Foresight Group, the owners of the solar farm at Trehawke Barton, Blunts, are required to remove the panels and restore the land to its original condition by 2039 but they are seeking to operate until 2050.
Menheniot Parish Council, in which the solar farm lies, is to hold a public meeting on Thursday (October 13) before deciding whether or not to support the proposal.
A spokesperson for the council said: ‘Before making our decision, we would like to get the views of the local community. Anyone who was affected by the previous planning consent, or has concerns about the way that solar arrays are managed and decommissioned, is welcome to come and express their opinions.’
The meeting will be held in Menheniot Old School at 7pm and the council will make its decision at a meeting on October 20.
