COMPARED with last week's Summer Skittles where no one was able to achieve over 69 pins, things took a different pattern this week when eight skittlers recorded 70 plus individual scores and what is more five of those came from the eight skittlers involved in a keen top of the table game between the Potholers and the True-Brits.
The league leaders were put in to bowl and recorded a high 145 pins in their first half, then the Potholers replied with 133, however, a dramatic change took place in the second half when the Potholers accounted for 149 pins to which the True-Brits offered little resistance with 117 pin fall, thus showing a valuable victory for the Potholers.
Gremlins hold a close second place just three points away from leaders following their tussle with the Bodmin Landers when at half-way mark the rare occurrence of both teams knocking over the same number of pins occurred, thus sharing the two points at stake. However, those Gremlins proved to be the stronger team of four especially with anchor man Bill Batten's 43 pins in the second half and a total of 22 pins advantage ended the game 5-1 point to the good.
Although sitting in a low position in the league in their game versus the Latecomers the Wreckers trailed by two pins after four legs, but Ken Couchman rallied his team to easily get the better of the second half winning by 4-2 points despite Latecomers anchor man Peter Elliott's high 75 total pin fall. Early leaders in the season G.A.S. team of four just hold on to third place, but it was not their night for high pin falls as they were defeated in both halves by Richard Haynes' Bodmin Beasts who with his individual 81 pin fall collected six easy points and steer away from the bottom of the table up to a comfortable sixth place. Bottom placed Choughs were drawn against Lynda's What's That where spares were hard to come by as the total pin falls by both teams suggest. At the halfway mark the two points were shared as another draw was recorded and as the game progresses it looked to take a similar pattern, but there was an improvement to show Margaret Edwards' Choughs just getting the better of the second half by five pins and were thrilled with their 5-1 point victory.
