Torpoint Athletic 0 Millbrook 1 Torpoint manager Mark Jones was convinced that the best team lost the traditional Boxing Day derby at The Mill. 'We dominated play and were camped in their half for most of the second period,' said Jones. 'They only had two chances all game and it was perhaps fitting that the only goal of the game was a fluke,' he added. Millbrook assistant manager Gary Tiffany countered with: 'It's goals that win games and we got the all- important one. 'We did not play very well but having said that they rarely troubled our keeper and if someone had said that we would go into the New Year in third place we would have settled for that,' he added. Torpoint had the better of the early exchanges with Ryan Lucassi denied by goalkeeper Daniel Pen- Collins in a one-on-one situation before Steve Johnson went close with an effort from 30 yards. The only goal came on 38 minutes with a Steve Sims corner curling over keeper Dave Painter and into the far corner of the net. Dan Parke was unlucky not to level for Torpoint early in the second half when his 15-yard effort was deflected on to the post while Rob Eddie almost doubled Millbrook's lead but his 80th minute header was cleared off the line by Mark Sotheron.
