Liskeard Silver band is on the look out for new players, and will welcome people of all ages and abilities from complete beginners onwards.
Beginners can receive individual tuition on Thursday evening at the Band room and the training band practices from 6.45pm on Fridays, with the main band rehearsing at 7.40pm.
For a small annual membership an instrument is provided and tuition given. The annual meeting of the band takes place on Wednesday February 16.
The band had a good Christmas season and played at many venues over the festive period. The main band collected £390 13 entertaining shoppers on Saturday morning, and £49 in door to door collection.
At the recent presentation night prizes were awarded to the following players. Best Section, tenor horns and most improved junior, British Legion Shield, Matthew Foster; best improved player Clare Thompson, best player of the year Lucy Davies, best deportment, Martin Nicholls.
During the evening three of the beginners, Yasmyn and Carl Stevens and Claire Knight, played Jingle Bells.
The winner of the Christmas quiz was Tessa Lewis. Thanks were given to Jenny Foster for compiling the quiz. Thanks were also given to Alf and Jill Keeling for keeping the guests and players well fed throughout the evening
