GUNNISLAKE'S fifth annual festival of music, art, history and fun will be held from August 3-6 this year. A local history and craft exhibition will provide a showcase for the rich diversity of life in the Tamar Valley. Pubs and other venues will host live music for the four-day period and festival day itself will be a feast of sound and colour. Saturday is festival day and there will be stalls of all kinds, children's entertainment and live music and dance. Street performers are welcome, as are potential stallholders. Anyone wishing to take a stall should call Bob Sawyer on Tavistock (01822) 833255. Gunnislake's amazing scarecrows will feature again this year, with a competition for the best scarecrow and scarecrow-related activities. Last year's crop of 50 scarecrows attracted a special prize from the Cornish Times, presented by television presenters Richard and Judy. For more information about the scarecrow competition, call Sue Crocker on Tavistock (01822) 832502.
