The National Show of South Devon cattle will be hosted at this year’s Royal Cornwall Show.

This will be the eighth National Show the South Devon Herd Book Society has held and will form part of the Royal Cornwall’s cattle section when the three-day event is staged from June 8 to 10.

South Devon exhibitors will be out in force with a total of 127 stalls booked for South Devon cattle. Competitors will be travelling from across the country to participate.

The South Devon is the largest of the native British cattle breeds and is well known for its beef qualities.

The breed has a long history, stemming back many centuries, originating in the South Hams area of Devon before spreading to the rest of Devon and Cornwall, and then on to become a mainstay in beef production across the country.
