So Caradon have at last had their come uppance. I refer of course to the comprehensive drubbing they received from Judge Sullivan at the Royal Courts of Justice.

As I understand it, he said the action against the Knott family should never have been brought to court. Caradon have lumbered the local taxpayers with a £30,000 bill for the Knott's costs - plus Caradon's own costs bill on top of that. Now Caradon have to negotiate with the Knotts over a settlement (many more thousands), something they should have done years ago instead of wriggling. Please don't try to string it out any longer, Caradon - your councillors and officers have cost us enough already.

If ever there was an instance in which the Local Government Ombudsman should take an interest this is the one. Perhaps Caradon might take it on themselves to act in disciplining the Officers involved in this shambles. There are also councillors who need to be hauled over the coals. They have been led like sheep to the slaughter.
