Work has been halted at a geothermal drilling site at the Eden Project after reports of seismic activity.

Investigations confirmed that the event, that happened on Wednesday, was linked to the testing operations.

The Eden Geothermal company, which is drilling a three mile borehole at the site, said in a statement: "We are aware that a small seismic event was felt and heard in the vicinity of the Eden Geothermal site."An investigation and analysis of seismic monitoring date have confirmed that this event was linked to testing operations at Eden Geothermal."The company apologised for any disturbance, but said no damage had been caused.Two previous incidents of "induced seismic activity", on January 23 and March 5, were recorded at the site by the British Geological Survey.Eden Geothermal Ltd was set up by three partners: Eden Project, EGS Energy Ltd, and Bestec (UK) Ltd to unlock the geothermal energy deep in the granite beneath Cornwall.It has funding of £9.9m from the European Regional Development Fund, alongside £1.4m from Cornwall Council and £5.5m from other investors.
