A NEW competition has been set up to recognise the best teachers in Cornwall.

Among the 12 categories in the first Cornwall Teacher Awards are: outstanding teacher of the year, headteacher of the year and further education lecturer of the year.

The winners of these and other awards will receive their accolades at a ceremony in Truro Cathedral on April 15

Further categories include: school volunteer of the year, school support worker of the year, student-nominated teacher of the year and school governor of the Year

The judges include Toni Pearce, an ex-Cornwall College student and former president of the National Union of Students.

If you would like to see an inspirational and outstanding teacher, lecturer, headteacher, teaching assistant, school support worker or volunteer rewarded for their contribution to learning, you can make a nomination for the 2016 Cornwall Teacher Awards.

View the categories and complete the entry form online, before the deadline of Friday, February 12.
