A sea-themed book of stunning and unusual images by a Lansallos photographer will be launched in Liskeard with live music and a talk tomorrow, Sunday. Sea Journal is Lisa Woollett’s second book documenting her findings along the coastline – and for this one she ventures further afield to rediscover childhood haunts: rockpooling in Devon, fossiling in Dorset, the mudflats of Kent, and back to Cornwall for storm watching close to home. Lisa’s luminous photographs and intricate drawings are accompanied by evocative descriptions and a compelling narrative. There is a stark message about the threat faced by the ocean and its creatures – but also the hope that through the pleasure of discovery and wonder at the natural world, we can learn to be better stewards of this wild, magnificent environment. Lisa Woollett will be at the Liskerrett Centre on Sunday (May 8) from 7pm to talk about the making of Sea Journal. The talk will be followed by live music from The Bookshop Band – a folk duo who write songs inspired by books and who perform in bookshops all over the country.
