PEOPLE in Cornwall are being invited to ‘say it with dance’ and contribute to an exciting new film project. Individuals or groups of dancers are being invited to film a one-minute ‘physical postcard’ from an outdoor location – a message, spoken without words, through the medium of dance. Everyone is encouraged to submit an entry, regardless of age or experience, and the clips will be posted in an online gallery. ‘The concept of sending a message from the body through movement provides the opportunity to say something unique, which words alone cannot express,’ said Lois Taylor, who, with Sarah Fairhall and Gemma Kempthorne, is behind the project.
The three dance artists are working in partnership with Sterts Theatre at Upton Cross, near Liskeard, Rosehip Barn in St Clether, and Hay Studio near Bodmin to involve as many local people as possible in the project. Three classes will be running at Upton Cross Parish Hall on April 20 and 27, and on May 4. These sessions will be the chance for people to share ideas and receive guidance from choreographer Lois Taylor. The dances will be filmed by professional film-maker Brett Harvey over the weekend of May 7 and 8. ‘It is a chance to make something personal to treasure and share,’ said Lois. If you are in north and east Cornwall and want to set up an opportunity for you or your group to get involved, contact Lois Taylor on 07730586306 or email [email protected]. Musicians, artists and writers are also encouraged to join the Physical Postcards project; for more information visit www.physicalpostcards. co.uk
