NEARLY 300 beavers, cubs, scouts, venture scouts, brownies and guides converged on Saltash for the annual St George's day parade.

The young people came from all over the Mount Edgcumbe district, including Torpoint and Maker.

The service was conducted by the Rev Alan Butler, who also gave the address. He said that there were eight million scouts in the world and spoke of the importance of team work and to illustrate the point he invited three venture scouts to erect a small tent during the service.

Scout and guide colours were carried and after the service the salute was taken outside the church at a march past, by divisional guide commissioner Alison Butler, and scout commissioners, Peter and Maureen Carvell.
