Polish guitarists in
concert at library
A POLISH husband and wife team gave a concert at Saltash Library on Saturday evening.
Francizek and Katerina Wieczorek were paying their first visit to Saltash and Cornwall with their classical guitars.
Francizek studied under Alina Gruszka and finished at the academy of music in Katowice in 1990 and he has won many prizes. A well-known recitalist, he also teaches at the academy of music.
Katerina studied in Slovakia and graduated in 1991. She is one of the leading guitar teachers in the National School secondary school of music in Katowice.
Nearly 50 people enjoyed the concert including music by J Dowland, Chopin, Schubert, Debussy and Rodrigo.
The next concert will be on Saturday November 10 at 6 30pm, when Rachel Heffer (Celtic harp and vocals) will make a return visit to Saltash.
Jubilee
meeting
A PUBLIC meeting has been arranged in Saltash on October 9 to discuss ways in which the Queen's Golden Jubilee can be celebrated in the town.
Members of groups and organisations throughout Saltash have been invited to the meeting, at the Guildhall at 7.30pm. It has been organised by Saltash town council.

equipment
PATIENTS of a Saltash doctor who require medical equipment for home nursing can borrow equipment via the Cecily Baker Charity, a voluntary organisation.

Harvest
festivities
THE harvest service at St Nicholas and St Faith Church on Sunday morning was followed by a harvest lunch prepared and cooked by Mrs D Taylor and friends in the church.
Children presented their harvest gifts in the church during the service, conducted by the rector, Canon Richard Maynard.
Golf drive for
air ambulance
A GOLF charity drive was held at the China Fleet Club when the club raised £283.40 for the Cornwall Air Ambulance - the cheque received by Richard Whitmarsh of the charity.
Winners of the golf drive were Denise Johnston and Barbara Ham.q
