Concert for organ fund
IN spite of heavy rain there was a good attendance for a concert at St Stephen by Saltash Parish Church to raise money for the renovation of the organ.
The Rev Alan Butler was the compere and an evening of music was supplied by St Stephen's music group, the church choir, the Larrick Lads from Landrake and several soloists.
The evening opened with the music group playing 'Think of a world without any flowers' and Ross Bunworth, a year six pupil of Burraton school, playing Scot Joplin's 'The Entertainer' on the keyboard. The church choir rendered 'St Patrick's Breastplate' and Michael Chenery played 'Postlude' on the keyboard. This was followed by a solo by Carol Wilson Barker.
Highlights of the second half included the church choir singing 'God So Loved The World' and the finale from the music group and the Larrick Lads. The concert raised £143. The cost of the organ renovation is expected to be in the region of £10,000.
