SALTASH Guildhall is being lined up for a major makeover, with the town council seeking contractors to transform its meeting rooms and modernise its facilities.

The refurbishment will bring a host of changes to the civic building in Lower Fore Street, including a redesigned council chamber, new technology and improvements to meeting spaces.

At the heart of the project will be bespoke horseshoe-shaped desks in the Council Chamber, providing seating for around 20 councillors and other users.

The chamber will also be equipped with new audio-visual technology, allowing meetings to be held both in person and online through Microsoft Teams.

The package includes microphones, screens, speakers and control systems, as well as an assisted listening system to improve accessibility for those attending meetings.

Further work will include electrical and data upgrades across the building, covering the Council Chamber, Clerk's Office and first-floor Long Room.

The chamber will also receive replacement radiators, while the Long Room is set for new carpeting and acoustic underlay as part of the improvements.

The contract will cover everything from installation and testing to certification and staff training, alongside associated finishing works.

Saltash Town Council is now inviting suitably qualified contractors to bid for the work, which must be carried out while the Guildhall remains operational.

Contractors will be expected to maintain the safe running of the building throughout the project, ensuring council business can continue during the refurbishment.

The tender opportunity, including the full specification and supporting documents, is available through the Government's Contracts Finder website.

The deadline for submissions is 4.30pm on Monday, November 30, 2026.

Bids can be emailed to [email protected] or posted to the Town Clerk, The Guildhall, Lower Fore Street, Saltash, PL12 6JX.
