I AM writing to your paper regarding the sad closures of local filling stations. Surely these garages would be a godsend to holiday makers on route to their destinations in Cornwall/West Country; also to local residents as they offer a small shop for sundries/papers locally. I think when they close down it makes the countryside look redundant -derelict even - and with more cars on our roads by the day and more houses going up all over the place, we need more not less of these amenities. What is this sad world coming to. I just hope that the 'closed down' derelict sight of these won't put the holidaymakers off and send them elsewhere with their custom. What do other readers think of this dilemma?
