The 2000 Cornwall County Closed Hard Court Tennis Champlonships, sponsored by Century Litho (Cornwall County LTA's sponsors), took place at Penzance over the May Bank Holiday.
Ryan Fern (Redruth) achieved another 'hat-tnck' winning the Men's Singles, the Men's Doubles, partnered by County Junior Tim Webster (Bodmin), and the Mixed Doubles with Clare Fraser (Tuuro).
Anna Sharland (Truro) outplayed number 1 seed Vicki Eames (Duloe) in the Ladies semi-final and went on to beat Clare Fraser in a hard fought, three set, final to become the Ladies Champlon.
Clare Fraser together with Anna Sharland emerged winners in the Ladies Doubles after a long tussle against strong opposition from the Junior County pairing of Vicki Eames & Helen Stubbs (Truro).
The Plate events for the first round losers provided some excellent matches. Matthew Eames won the Men's Singles and Michelle Turner the Ladies.
During the finals afternoon a fun 'Tennis Factory', organised by Tennis Development Officer Paul Roberts, Penzance Club Coach Keith Songhurst and Short Tennis Organiser Sammie Bassett, was thoroughly enjoyed by some 25 juniors. The fastest serve, measured by a speed gun, was won by Adam Hayward.
The presentation of awards was made by David Tayler of Century Litho.
