Rural parish councils in South East Cornwall have been taking steps to protect and support their residents during the coronavirus crisis.
In Calstock Parish, the council is acting as a point of contact to match anyone in self-isolation that needs support with willing volunteers. ’We will be asking some of our ward members to check in on people, using phone or email where necessary,’ said clerk Sue Lemon.
’We may need people to pick up and deliver prescriptions and basic groceries. At this stage we won’t know exactly what will be needed and the levels of support required.’
If you can help or if you need support, call 01822 748847 and leave a message or email [email protected].
Meanwhile in Dobwalls, the Parish Council had already taken the decision to suspend normal meetings before tough new lockdown measures were announced by the Government this week.
Chairman John Dunn said it was regrettable that the summer edition of ’The Villager’ newsletter would not be published. Regular meetings of the council have been cancelled and all business will be done by councilors by email or telephone.
He said: ’We’ll be putting as much information as possible on the council’s website www.dobwallsandtrewidland.org.uk where the public can leave their comments including their responses to planning applications.’
