A total of 65 runners contested the fourth annual Eller Road Race around the Rame Peninsula.
The event, licensed by UK Athletics and organised by the Torpoint and Rame Peninsula Lions Club, attracted entries from across Devon and Cornwall. Runners set out from Millbrook Football Club for the ten-mile race around an undulating course with several testing hill sections, ranging from sea level to 100 metres, passing through Maker, Kingsand, Cawsand, Rame, Whitsand Bay and St John, before returning to Millbrook.
Despite the damp conditions, 64 competitors finished the route, although the course records of 58 minutes and 22 seconds (men) and 1:05.3 (women) remain unbroken.
Preparations are already in hand for next year's event – and the organiser, Mike Cramp, is confident that he will see an increase in numbers.
