Outside half Steve Cloak drew first blood for St Agnes with a fifth minute penalty in a this re-arranged Cornwall Division One fixture at Enys Parc. But Saltash soon gained control as number eight Peter Congo completed a try hat-trick inside the opening twenty minutes with Niel Westerman converting all three.

A try from live wire Cloak got the score back to 8-21 but Westerman converted for hooker James Woodward to widen the Ashes score against a second penalty from Cloak to leave Saltash comfortably in front by 11-28 at the break.

Cloak landed a third penalty for St Agnes but from then on in Saltash were always in command and ran in further tries from Julian Oakes, Simon Watson, Anthony Ruby (two), Peter Congo and Steve Hall while Westerman was on target with three second half conversions.

Mike Greenslade fashioned a late try for St Agnes with Cloak converting.

Footnote - Match referee was Rod Jackson who the Saturday before had charge of the Saltash v. Illogan Park clash at Moorlands Lane. In passing conversation afterwards, he said he had also been offered the Cornwall Clubs Cup match next day between St Day and Saltash but had declined the appointment.
