The China Fleet Country Club will be welcoming Princess Anne as part of their 25th anniversary celebrations.
The Princess Royal will visit the club in April to attend a rededication ceremony, 25 years after Prince Charles officially opened it in 1991.
Rear Admiral Mike Wood CBE, DL, Chairman of the China Fleet Country Club’s Trust, and Alex Sharpe MBE, Chief Executive, will be meeting the Princess Royal, along with Dean Bennett, managing director, Saltash Mayor Councillor Bill Phillips, town clerk Ray Lane and Scott Mann, MP for North Cornwall.
Rear Admiral Wood said: ’We are delighted and honoured to be welcoming Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal to The China Fleet Country Club, for such a fantastic occasion.
’We are looking forward to telling her of the Club’s proud heritage and unique history as well as showing her many of our new facilities and what we continue to do for our beneficiaries and the local community.’
The Princess will be given a guided tour of the club before a formal reception where she will present long service awards to employees who have worked at the club for the full 25 years.
This will be followed by a rededication ceremony and the unveiling of a new plaque at the club. Holly Bennett, 11, will present Princess Anne with a posy.
Club chief executive Alex Sharpe said: ’We are all really looking forward to the visit. We have come a long way in the last 25 years and have even more exciting and ambitious plans for the next 25 years. We are delighted that Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal is gracing us with a visit to mark the occasion helping us to commemorate, celebrate and rededicate.’
Mr Bennett said: ’2016 is a special year for us and in addition to this visit we are hosting a wide range of events for our members and the local community.’
Although the China Fleet’s 25th anniversary falls on June 1, they will be celebrating throughout the year by hosting 25 individual events, including a family day. Members of the public will find a selection of rides, stalls, bouncy castles and entertainment at the club on Sunday 12 June as part of their main community celebration.
