LISKEARD’S Relay for Life teams have beaten their targets to raise more than £47,000 in two years – despite the restrictions imposed by the pandemic.
In 2020 the committee set its sights on 20k, and with a big effort to keep the Relay spirit alive online, this goal was beaten by £1000 exactly.
In 2021, the target was set at 25k, in light of Relay for Life celebrating its 25th anniversary.
“Once again, despite it being another virtual Relay due to Covid restrictions, we surpassed all expectations and were delighted when our 2021 total was announced as £26,250,” said teams chairman Joy Parker.
“Over the two years, a grand total of £47,250 has been raised by the people of Liskeard and surrounding areas. What an incredible achievement!”
Next year’s event will be the 15th Relay for Life Liskeard, and the committee hopes to encourage even more people of all ages to take part.
To that end, Cancer Research UK supporters old and new and Relay team members are being invited to a Wine and Cheese Evening tomorrow (Friday Nov 12) from 7pm at the Eliot House Hotel in Liskeard, to find out more on how to get involved.
