CROWDS flocked to a Fore Street decorated with flowers for the annual Easter fun day organised by Liskeard Traders Association.

New benches provided somewhere for people to sit and enjoy the entertainment by The Wreckers morris dancers, Wishy Washy the magician and the Three Strand Minstrels, while 300 Easter eggs were given to children by Anji Stephenson from the association.

'The highlight of the morning was the Easter bonnet competition,' said Liskeard councillor Rosa Mashiter. 'It attracted a record entry of nearly 40 competitors – well over twice the number of entries last year.'

The winner of the under fives category was Verity Andrews, with Maisie Chamberlain, Grace Dunn, Aliyah Hooper, Samantha P, Yasmin Hooper, Matthew Dallen, Rosie Hudson and Jason highly commended. A special prize of a baby clock was awarded to eight-month-old Emerson Libby, the youngest competitor. The winner of the five-12 category was Tegan Menear, with Tyler Hussell, Eden Hodgkins and Victoria Sichel highly commended. The adult category was won by Jo Landrigan, and the overall champion hat was awarded to Asia Brown.

Deputy mayor Lori Reid said the Traders Association was to be congratulated for all its hard work in organising such a successful and enjoyable day.
