In the Cornish Times newsroom we’ve again been busy producing three editions of your favourite local paper packed with news: the main edition, the new Saltash edition and the new Bodmin edition.
The main edition leads with the story of how police who stopped a car in South East Cornwall because it had a faulty headlamp ended up discovering the driver had a £160,000 haul of drugs and cash in the vehicle.
We also report good news on Looe’s bathing water quality, how generous shoppers from far and wide have responded to a village primary school’s appeal for supermarket stickers, and that an exhibition in Looe is to feature stories about the town’s inspirational men.
The Saltash edition features a special spread of pictures from the town’s Remembrance commemorations and ceremonies, and there are more pictures from the visit by Year 9s at Saltash Community School to the Cornwall Skills Show at Wadebridge.
The Bodmin edition leads with the story of how a social worker from the town, Zachary Bishop, has received national recognition after being chosen as a finalist in the Social Worker of the Year awards. We also report on Bodmin Conservative MP Scott Mann’s objectives as he launches his election campaign, and preview an open day for students considering going to Callywith College.
In all editions we also feature the story of how the Bodmin and Wenford heritage railway has been able to accurately reinstate a canopy on a station building thanks to help from a group of enthusiasts from London exhibiting a miniature version of Bodmin General at the Warley National Model Railway Exhibition. We’re also giving our readers a chance to win pairs of tickets to this year’s model exhibition in one of two competitions in this week’s paper.
The other competition offers a chance to win tickets to a star-studded Christmas concert.
Other stories include Liskeard’s daredevil deputy mayor undertaking a fire walk, the launch of a new karate club, the impressive fundraising total resulting from a fire crew’s Movember moustache-growing efforts, and the moving tribute written by his wife to a veteran who served in Bosnia.
We also have lots of pictures of other Remembrance events around South East Cornwall.
We also have lots of your community news and pictures and regular columns such as Ray Roberts’ Nature Watch, your Letters, TV Choice and latest Books. This week’s editions also have Farming, Leisure, Antiques, Property and Motoring sections.
There are also 11 pages of Sport with content tailored to the three editions.
Find all of this and more in this week’s Cornish Times editions, in shops from today (Friday).
