A dramatic night-time image of Rame Head has won the ‘People’s Choice’ award at the British Photography Awards.
The photograph, taken by Plymouth-based photographer Oli Dickinson, features a DJI drone flown in orbit above the chapel. Using long exposure, Oli was able to illuminate the chapel whilst keeping the Milky Way visible in the background. Oli’s photo, which had already been commended in the Cornwall AONB Diamond Jubilee Photo Competition, has received praise for its composition and technical ability.
Oli, who is director at the Different View Photography company, said: ‘Drones have revolutionised aerial photography and my photo is one example of how they can be used creatively.
‘I am immensely proud that this image, featuring the local landmark at Rame Head, has been recognised by leading judges.
‘There were thousands of professional photographers who entered and I feel humbled to have reached the top three photos in the country.’
