Budding Supply Chain Logisticians training at HMS Raleigh have raised £1,116.71 for their chosen charity, Help For Heroes.
The group of trainees set out to sell Help for Heroes merchandise, ran a coffee and cake morning as well as collecting donations from staff at the training base at Torpoint and from families attending the weekly passing-out parade. In doing so they smashed the record set by previous classes for fund-raising.
The Supply Chain Squadron has adopted Help for Heroes as their chosen charity and focus for all fund-raising this year. Help for Heroes supports individuals who suffer injury or sustain illness while serving in the British Armed Forces. The charity was co-founded on 1st October 2007 and has attracted high profile trustees and patrons. It also has the support of Service charities and the Ministry of Defence.
Last year The Supply Chain Squadron choose Hugs From Henry as their charity, set-up by the family of Henry Hallam, who was diagnosed with an aggressive form of childhood cancer, Neuroblastoma. In total the Squadron managed to raise nearly £3000.
Every class is given the opportunity to raise money as a way of developing personal skills while also benefiting a local charity.
The Supply Chain Squadron is part of the Defence Maritime Logistics School.
