Motorists are being warned that already-dangerous conditions on the district's roads could well get worse with more heavy rainfall forecast this afternoon and into the night.
Standing water is reported at many places and flooding of roads as well as properties in some places is likely.
The Met Office has issued an Amber warning for rain until midnight tonight.
