Torpoint Community College student Carys Owen organised a successful quiz night recently, which saw more than 70 people take part in four rounds of questions. There were refreshments and a raffle that helped Carys raise £250. At the end of the evening she handed over a cheque to twins Bethany and Ceri Astell, fellow students who are to receive new electric wheelchairs. The twins, who have spinal muscular atrophy, have outgrown their old wheelchairs and, as the new ones have been privately funded, their family is responsible for the maintenance over the next five years. Bethany and Ceri took part in the quiz with parents Paul and Sian. Paul said: 'I would like to thank everyone in Torpoint for their support and help in getting the new wheelchairs and the charity Whizz Kids.' Carys presented the winning team of Mike, Sandra and Peter with a bottle of wine.
