Cornwall Council and Cornwall Heritage Trust are working on a major £3.4 million Heritage Lottery Funded (HLF) project to restore the historic Treffry Viaduct and explore the history of the Luxulyan Valley and nearby Par and St Blazey.

The area is part of the Cornish Mining World Heritage site.

As part of this work to celebrate this special industrial heritage in Mid Cornwall, the HLF project intends to fund a programme of volunteer opportunities, talks and events for local people.

Cornwall Council is holding a free community history ‘drop in’ event in the function room, St Blazey Football Club on Wednesday, July 20 from 4pm-6pm.

Some local history sources will be on display, and managers of the project are interested to know what you would like to see included in the proposed HLF programme.

There are lots of possibilities ranging from family history to railway history, ancient landscapes to local geology.
