£2.5 million investment in expansion
The Liskeard-based photographic firm Topfoto company is investing a further £2.5 million in the town by expanding to new premises to accommodate the latest photo processing technology.
Managing director Chris Childs said the expansion will enable the company to cater for more work which in turn will be good news for more employment opportunities in Liskeard and district.
Since opening in 1995, topfoto has operated from the former Avon Farmers Building in Barras Place, and has now also acquired the building directly behind the existing site which will give the business an extra 6,000 square feet and present it with new opportunities. 'Business is booming and the new premises will allow us to process more photographs than ever before' said Mr Childs. 'When we brought photo processing back to Liskeard in 1995 we had 20 staff and a plan to grow the business. We have been able to exceed all expectations and now, with 90 staff, it is time to increase our laboratory capacity'.
Mr Childs said that although the topfoto service is now nationwide it still remained committed to the South West, and being locally based has the edge over national competitors who come into the area.
