Liskeard in Bloom has been granted £1,000 by builder Persimmon Homes Cornwall, with the charity aiming to set up a group of volunteers who grow flowers and plants in the town centre.

The project will build on the work of the local traders association, who last year spent more than £4,000 planting out the town.

John Hesketh from Liskeard in Bloom, said: ’This donation means we can establish a sustainable and independent voluntary group which will enhance the town centre.

’This will benefit residents, visitors and local businesses.

’We need to raise additional funding that will enable us to design and create publicity material for the new group, as well as purchase materials that we can use to fund-raise in the wider community.’
