COUNCILLORS at the Town Council's Burial Board meeting at the Guildhall last week considered the fees for burials, where it was recommended that there should be an increase of £5. This would mean that the cost of burials would rise from £135 to £140, while the burial of ashes will rise from £65 to £70. Canon Richard Maynard said that the life of the present Churchyard would only last about three more years, suggesting that another site should be found soon. The Burial Board has already been seeking information about this and will look into it again.
