A presentation of civic prints was made to retiring tree warden Flok de Rijke and retiring Town crier Brian Whipp at the recent meeting of Saltash Town Council.

Flok had been looking after the trees on a voluntary basis for several years in the town and Brian was Saltash’ s first town crier, covering many events. He also entered a number of competitions for town criers and gained several awards, one, with his late wife, Monica, for the best-dressed crier and wife. Monica made a number of their costumes.

Brian is also well known in the town dressing as Sir Francis Drake.

Presentations were made by Councillors Bob Austin and Joe Ellison.
