A RECENT Ofsted inspection of the Liskeard Market Pre-School concluded that it provides high quality nursery education. The Pre-School, based at the Liskerrett Community Centre, Varley Lane, Liskeard, offers funded places to all three and four year olds. The inspection report specifically praised the high standard of teaching that the children receive, the stimulating and fun environment and the level of support given to all children, especially those with special education needs. The use of mathematical language by staff during activities and everyday routines was highlighted as being very good. Paul Wilkinson, Chairman of the Pre-School committee and parent said: 'We are absolutely delighted with the Ofsted report. it is a reflection of the hard work and dedication of the staff and the fantastic resources that are available. Such an excellent report is really well deserved'. Maureen Woodhouse MBE, Head of the Cornwall Early Years Service also included her congratulations on the report. She said: 'I remember visiting Liskeard Market Pre-School a while ago and commenting on the excellent practice. There are only a few reports which give such 'glowing' praise, but I know it is really well deserved'. The Pre-School offers sessional care, extended hours and a Lunch Club. During the holidays, a Holiday Club is run for all children aged from three to seven years. The Pre-School in the coming year are hoping to further develop their exciting outdoor area and are planning to hold a Games and Fun Day at the Liskerrett Centre on Monday May 2 to raise further funds.
