THERE were 43 crimes in Callington between the period of September 2 and September 28. Reporting to Callington Town Council this week, PC Michelle Treeby said that included in those figures were five accounts of criminal damage, four assaults (from which three people have been arrested), one house burglary and one case of arson. PC Treeby said it was thought that some were 'summer crimes' as people were out on the street. Talking on the town's Police Community Support Officer, she said that PCSO Mark Stribley was doing a 'cracking job' and was getting on top of things in the town. She said that he had supplied them with useful information and was good at seizing alcohol from underage drinkers. PSCO Stribley was also praised by the portreeve, Councillor Jeremy Gist who said he was getting a good reaction from Callington's elderly residents who say it is good to see a policeman around.
