Local player Will Doidge has won the Cornwall County Pool Singles competition. Held at Bodmin Pool and Snooker Club on January 30 he defeated his Porters A team-mate Andy Hicks 6-2 in the final. The last 16 of the competition was as follows -

First Round - Jason Ottaway (Penzance) lost to Russel Moore (Roche); Paul Baron (Lostwithiel) beat Andy Hall (Roche); Neil Webb (St Blazey) lost to Alan Bartlett (Bodmin); Andy Hicks (Liskeard) beat Dave McDonald (Redruth); Mark Webb (St Blazey) lost to Steve Knight (Bodmin); Jeremy Maddern (Penzance) lost to Rod Burrows (Camborne); Nick Julian (Wadebridge) beat Lance Taylor (Roche); Will Doidge (Liskeard) beat Lee Sturridge (Bodmin).

Quarter-finals - R Moore lost to P Baron by 2 frames to 5; A Bartlett lost to A Hicks by 4 to 5; S Knight lost to R Burrows by 1 to 5; N Julian lost to W Doidge by 0-5.

Semi-finals - P Baron lost to A Hicks by 3-6; R Burrows lost to W Doidge by 3-6.

Final - A Hicks lost to W Doidge by 2 to 6.
