Division One

Ship Wreckers erased the memory of their last match 5-0 thrashing at the hands of the Ship Inn Dales by treating the Russell to a dose of the same medicine via Matt Leslie, Jon Hoskin, Tid Hayward, Phil Matthews and Darrell Hidson.

The Ship Inn Dales found yet another victim ñ carrying on where they left off and putting the pride of Polperro firmly in its place as they conceded just a single frame against Legion A. Marcus Le Page, Peter Ivey, Martyn Holtam, Jason Bond and John Storer did the business.

Second placed Marquee C kept the pressure on by beating stablemates Marquee A 4-1 through Richard Jenkin, Kieron Gregson, Matthew Stevens and Mark Nicholas, with Ali Julian replying.

Pelynt B remain in third after a similar scoreline against Marquee B, who have a lot of work to do if they are to avoid the drop. Phil Hearndon, Steve Eastley, Paul Tamblyn and Ollie Rounsevell were on the mark for Pelynt.

Henries A put up a spirited display before going down 3-2 to the Drifters, but it is really a case of ëtoo little too lateí for them. Barring miracles, both they and the Russell will play in the second division next season. Nick Dunn and Birdy won for Henries with Shaun Pengelly, Vince Beall and Barry Pearn on target for Drifters.

Henries D also went down 3-2 against the Pirates, whose win came courtesy of Bert Stephens, Jason Toms and Colin Penhaligan. Stuart Fisher and Paul Adams (8-baller) kept the damage to a minimum.

Results: Henries A 2-3 Drifters (6-7); Marquee A 1-4 Marquee C (3-8); Pelynt B 4-1 Marquee B (8-3); Pirates 3-2 Henries D (6-6); Ship Inn Dales 5-0 Legion A (10-1); Russell 0-5 Wreckers (1-10).

Division Two - Jolly and Noughts promoted

After both recorded 4-1 wins, the Jolly A and Noughts A will be playing First Division pool next season. The Jolly earned their promotion with a victory over the Globe Trotters, thanks to Murray Collings, Darren Griffiths, Dave Williams and Keith Machin.

The Noughts A achieved the same end against the Ship Polperro B via Mark Lewis, Jason Mark, Lee Bryant and Ryan Leslie.

The Boscarn B could have joined them, but after their match against the Bombarders was postponed (we believe... but nobody tells us anything!) they will have to wait another week.

At the foot of the table nothing is resolved yet, with only five points separating the bottom five teams.

The Lugger's dismal run continued as Adam Shaw, Rob Dewe, Tony Ingham and Cris Woods helped Bullers to a 4-1 win.

Bar 1 A remain rooted to the bottom after losing 3-2 at home to Henries E, for whom Jordan Garaghon, Matt Barton and Aaron Spry secured the points.

It looks as though the relegation situation will not be clarified until the last week of the season, although Henries E could well hold the key to matters since they have still to play 3 of the 4 teams below them.

Results: Bar 1 A 2-3 Henries E (6-8); Bullers 4-1 Lugger (9-3); Jolly A 4-1 Globe Trotters (8-5); Ship Polperro B 1-4 Noughts A (4-9).

Division Three - Boscarn takes top spot

With their closest rivals engaged in a promotion shoot-out, the Boscarn C took advantage of an easier fixture against bottom-placed Rowett to secure the 4 points they needed to prise top spot away from Strugglers B. Piran Clements, Darren Evans, Chris Gowing and Marcus (the Man) Wills did the job.

Strugglers B v Jolly B was predictably close, with Paul Jowitt and Mark Chalk easing the Jolly into a 2-1 lead before Gary Hardings and Doug Jones, with yet another 8-baller, added to Mike Lambieís early strike to see the Strugglers home. Doug also ended Steve Poteís unbeaten run of 13 (unlucky for some) wins.

Bar 1 B had mixed fortunes, going down 3-2 at the Social to Paul Goldthorpe, Chris Powell and Paul Hunter but also recording a 3-2 victory (late card) over the Rowett through Richard Chapman, Andy Giles and Darren Reynolds.

The Marquee D pushed Pelynt A one step closer to Division 4 with a 5-0 hammering at Duloe, thanks to Michael Spencer, Lee and Duncan Putt, Kevin Small and Neil Hilton.

Henries C improved their chances of avoiding the drop with a 3-2 win over fellow strugglers the Boscarn E. Dawn Trew, Martin Hamlet and Sue Allman were on song for Henries and Mandy Pearce and Simon Barber replied for the Boscarn.

With just a couple of games to go for most teams the promotion and relegation issues are far from being resolved, so once again it looks as though the last round of matches will be very tense affairs.

Results: Henries C 3-2 Boscarn E (7-4); Marquee D 5-0 Pelynt A (10-3); Rowett 1-4 Boscarn C (4-9); Social 3-2 Bar 1 B (6-5); Strugglers B 3-2 Jolly B (6-5); late result from 5/3 ñ Bar 1 B 3-2 Rowett (8-6).

Eight Ballers - Doug Jones (Strugglers B) v Steve Pote (Jolly B).

Division Four - Foreigners Clinch Promotion

The Foreigners duly reserved their place in the Third Division (possibly the Second) with the 5-0 drubbing of Millendreath thanks to Geoff and Marcus Hicks, Matthew Brett, Tony Modesto and Andy Thomson - they now need just 3 points to be certain of winning the title.

Just below them, four teams are still scrapping for the two remaining automatic promotion slots. The Destroyers have the points on the board, but good results for Strugglers A, Crumplehorn or Noughts B could easily see them overtaken.

The Crumplehorn did themselves a favour this week by beating the Destroyers by the odd point thanks to Phil Richardson, Ray and Martin Jordan. Chris and Jan Pannewitz replied. The Crumplehornís chances were further improved when the late arrival of a card from Strugglers A showed them to have pulled off a fine 4-1 win at Seaton, via Lynda, Martin and Ray Jordan and Geoff Dawkins.

The Noughts B really needed a good result against struggling Gamblers to press their claims, but were only able to manage a 3-2 win through Paul Day, Cerys Jones and Paul Hoskin. Nick Hinitt and Mike Pengelly scored the two points which lifted the Gamblers off the bottom for the first time since October.

Results: Crumplehorn 3-2 Destroyers (7-6); Foreigners 5-0 Millendreath B (10-2); Noughts B 3-2 Gamblers (8-6); late result from 5/3 - Strugglers A 1-4 Crumplehorn (2-9).
