Cornwall County Pool team kicked-off its new season at home (Bodmin Pool and Snooker Club) recently against Dorset with East Cornwall League players Brian Phillips (East Taphouse) and Andrew Hicks (Pensilva) both retained and playing in the Mens A squad.
The A side won 27 frames to 17 with both Andrew and Brian feeling unlucky only to have won two matches each out of a potential four.
Hicks lost to England No One player Keith Brewer and Phillips, recording a 10 ball clearance from the break, found he had played the wrong player and had to replay his match.
For the East Cornwall Pool League to have two representatives in the Cornwall squad shows how strong the League is and is a good advert for the English Pool Associations new world rules.
