Dream team in seventh heaven with season's biggest win
Standard Dream Team found themselves recording their biggest win to date with an 8-1 victory at home to the Mosquito Sailing Club. N Osborn, E Lawrence, J Deane, P Radley and I Gray all won their singles with only A Finch replying for the Sailors. Dream Team made it eight with all three doubles.
Kingpins 5, Hotshots 4 - Kingpins went 4-2 ahead in the singles at home to the Wilcove Hotshots with W Cooper, M Webb, A Miller and N A Miller all winning their matches. P Argrave and L Fearnley replied for the Hotshots in the singles. The pins then made it safe with the first double, only for Hotshots to take the last two doubles to narrow the score to 5-4.
Jubilee 2, Extra Smooth 7- The score should suggest that it had been closer as five of the six singles went to three frames with Extra Smooth coming off better, taking five of the six singles available through P Jones, J Sampson, J Cornish, A Spurrell and R Jones. The only loser was Barney Keegan, losing to his father Kevin 2-1, this being Barney's second defeat all season. Smooth went on to take two doubles and the match by 7-2.
Carbeile 3, 200 A 6 - 200 A showed that they can overcome the bigger teams as well as the smaller ones this time by overcoming a strong Carbeile team by 6-3. All square after the singles, with wins from K Davies, R Rice and D Norman for 200 A, while R Rice and D Norman recorded eight ball clear ups. C Deacon, G Bettinson and R Stones replied for Carbeile. 200 A took the match with a good display in the doubles, taking all three matches to win the night by 6-3.
Rowing Club B 5, Queens 4 - Queens found themselves losing for only the sixth time in 15 outings against Rowing Club B. C Tamblin, M Miller and G Phillips won for the Rowing B with J Harp, S Trevor and P Shiel replying. Rowers took the first and last doubles to clinch the match.
Warriors 8, King Terriers 1 - Wilcove Warriors are having one of their best seasons ever in the league as they are going through every team they meet with ease and producing outstanding results along the way. This time they won at home to an enthusiastic King Terriers team. K Tullet, J Cook, M Humphries, R Pender, A Arnold and B Sampson all were singles winners here for the warriors who also took two of the doubles.
Wheelers B 7, Main Attraction 2 - Wheelers B went straight through the singles card without dropping a leg, with wins from N Cocks, M Nichols, A Waters, E Nichols, I Brown and M Waters. Main Attraction did take some pride by taking the first and last doubles matches to go down 7-2 on the night, which leaves them bottom of the table and still looking for that first league win.
200 Club B 7, Racquets 2 - 200 Club B came good this week with a 7-2 win over the Racquets. L Clarkson, Luke Clarkson, G Nash, B Smart and L Summers were all singles winners for the 200 club with A Ashley winning for the Raquets. 200 Club took the first two doubles and the match by 7-2.
Cavaliers 7, Rowing Club A 2 - Cavaliers led 5-1 after the singles with wins from R Bland, S Hingston, N Mallett, A Wainright and C High. N Dunn was the only winner in the singles for Rowing A, and the Cavaliers took the first and last doubles to gain a 7-2 win.
MOF V Sharks - Sharks have now pulled out of the league, so the Mark of Friendship will get the walk over here. It will be decided at a captains meeting to see about taking the points away from teams who have played the sharks already this season and to give byes in the second half of the season.
