In the wake of the referendum decision to leave the European Union, Cornwall Council this morning says it is seeking ’urgent confirmation’ from ministers that the county will not be worse off in terms of investment.

The Council said it was reassured by ’leave’ campaigners during the campaign that already allocated EU funding would continue, and that existing levels of inward investment would continue.

Leader John Pollard said: ’We will be insisting that Cornwall receives investment equal to that provided by the EU programme which has averaged £60 million per year over the past ten years.’
