A Cornwall Councillor has criticised a new national housing policy which he says is having a detrimental effect on the number of affordable homes being built.
He says this is a big concern, particularly for young people who are finding it difficult to get on the housing ladder in an area of low wages.
Cllr Andrew Long (Mebyon Kernow), of Callington, who is chair of the Cornwall Planning East Sub-committee and sits on the county’s Strategic Planning Committee, has called on the Government to reverse the policy which relieves developers of the obligation to include social housing on building sites of 10 homes or less.
