A delegation from Finistere will be visiting Cornwall on Monday, September 19 and Tuesday, September 20 as part of the ongoing partnership between the two regions.
Finistere and Cornwall have shared a long-standing relationship since 1989. This was strengthened in 2007 with a volunteer from Finistere hosted within Cornwall Council to facilitate the co-operation.
Since then, there have been 18 co-operation projects involving Cornish and Finisterian partners, which has generated €4.7million of investment in the two regions.
This year’s visit will be led by Michael Quernez, deputy leader of Finistere Council and portfolio holder for Economy and Inclusion, and will involve councillors Jean-Marc Puchois, from the group Alliance for Finistere and Corinne Nicole from the regionalist group.
The visit will focus on the topics of social issues and tourism. The future of the co-operation between the two regions will also be discussed, especially in the wake of the Brexit vote.
