A meeting to debate Britain’s membership of the EU was cancelled due to lack of interest. The meeting had been scheduled to take place in Mount, a small village on the edge of Bodmin Moor near St Neot. Cornwall’s UKIP chairman David Lucas, who had been scheduled to speak at the event, said that he hoped people would attend two further informal debates to be held in the coming weeks. Speakers for the event at St Neot Village Institute on Tuesday June 7 (7pm) will be David Lucas (Out) and Charles Boney of the Liberal Democrats (In). At the first meeting, to be hosted by Cornwall Flying Club at Bodmin Airfield on Thursday May 26, there will be the chance to have a meal from 6.30pm with the debate to start at around 7.30pm. Mr Lucas will be presenting the Brexit case at this meeting, with the speaker for the ‘remain’ camp to be confirmed.
