Conservatives make strong start as count comes in

The Conservatives have made a strong start as the results come in from Cornwall Council’s elections.

With just under half of the results now in from yesterday’s vote, 23 seats so far have been won by Conservative candidates.

In Bodmin, sitting councillors Leigh Frost and Pat Rogerson, both Liberal Democrats, have held their seats. Lanivet, Blisland and Bodmin St Lawrence has been taken by Conservative Jenny Cruse. In North Cornwall, Launceston South has been taken by Conservative John Conway, while Launceston North and North Petherwin has gone to Adam Paynter, who has run as an Independent.

South East Cornwall’s results have yet to be announced.
