A demonstration against cuts to public services will take place on the Parade in Liskeard tomorrow (Saturday, May 6).
The afternoon of action is being organised by the People’s Assembly Against Austerity, and starts at 1pm.
Speakers will include GP Jan Parker who will speak out against cuts to the NHS.
’We want to raise awareness of the impact the cuts are having on our public services, including the NHS and schools as well as the most vulnerable people in our community,’ said member Leah Browning.
‘At a time when Derriford Hospital is on black alert, and local schools are appealing to parents to apply pressure to re-think the cuts, we hope to offer solidarity, and show there is a voice of opposition locally - as well as an alternative.’
The demo will be family-friendly, says Leah. There will be the chance for people to bring a picnic to Westbourne Gardens afterwards and share ideas with others.
