Police are hoping to return thousands of pounds worth of stolen goods to their rightful owners in South East Cornwall this weekend.
They are taking the unusual step of putting the stolen items on display at Saltash Police Station on Saturday and Sunday between 9am and 7pm. Owners will, of course, be expected to prove their title to the property.
The move follows the execution of a search warrant in Plymouth as a result of which officers recovered a treasure trove of power tools, garden equipment, compressors, outboard motors and even a surfboard.
DC Mike Lugger explained that most of the property recovered is thought to have been stolen in South East Cornwall from various locations including St Cleer, Torpoint, Saltash, Millbrook, Looe and Lostwithiel and he and his colleagues are anxious to see it returned to its rightful owners. Much of it is believed to have come from garden sheds, and works and commercial vehicles.
The recovered property also includes strimmers, leaf blowers and welding equipment.
