POLDARK star Tristan Sturrock will be giving a special reading as one of the highlights of the seventh Bodmin Moor Poetry Festival.

The festival takes place from May 25-27 at Sterts Ats Centre at Upton Cross, near Liskeard, which was founded by Tristan’s parents the late Ewart Sturrock and his wife Anne.

As well as poetry readings and workshops, there will be walking, yoga, food and drink, music, dance and visual art.

Tristan, who’s performed with Cornish-based Kneehigh, starred in Doc Martin and played Zachy Martin in Poldark, will be reading a long poem, ‘The Nightfishing’, to accompany a solo dance piece by Luke Antysz.

The piece has been specially commissioned for the festival to celebrate the centenary of the poem’s author, Scottish poet WS Graham, who lived for much of his life in Cornwall.

Working closely with local publisher Guillemot Press, and others, festival organisers Ann Gray and David Woolley have put together a mix of poets and artists, young and not-so-young, established and aspiring.

David said: ‘We’re very excited about the mix this year.

‘We have sound poets and visual poets, place poets and performance poets. They range from the academic to the anarchic, the lyrical to the lunatic – there truly is something here for all tastes!’
