I HAVE a sad tale to tell... I am now 37 years old and have been doing a bit of a clear out of my loft – which has involved a trip down memory lane! I am a contemporary jewellery designer who has always proclaimed her lack in drawing skills – preferring a three-dimentional approach. Yet in my loft I was amazed to discover some old artworks from school days that have very nicely proved me wrong! I discovered a black and white print from an etching (quiet apt as I became a jeweller) for which I won an award at an age of between 12 years and 16 years – not dated but signed V Sewart. With new-found emotions of pride and joy and confidence, I decided to get it framed at Trago Mills, always good for frames and mounts, and to hang it with pride on my own wall. Unfortunately I had it with me to match the mount and lo and behold with no carrier bag needed I dropped it between the check-out and car. I've rung Trago on numerous occasions with no joy, being told that it was possible that the car park cleaners took it as rubbish! I only hope that someone came across it and also decided it to be worthy of a space on their wall! With such sentimental value, I would give a small reward of £50 if I could get it back. This happened about two weeks ago. It was a print of a young girl who had straight mid-length hair with a bow above her forehead. She was holding a present and in the background was a window. If you can help me to recover this picture, I will be most grateful. Please contact the newsdesk at the Cornish Times on 01579 342174 if you can help.
